Our History
The Kenwood story began in 1947 when two technical engineers, Mr Kenneth Wood and Mr Roger Laurence, set up a small electronics company in Woking. The company produced some of the earliest UK television receivers as well as car radios and other electronic products.
In 1950, they designed the A100, the first food mixer made by Kenwood. This revolutionary appliance with its planetary mixing action was an instant success in the UK and overseas. Kenwood gradually grew its food preparation range with the launch of the chef food mixer in 1959 and the firstKenwood major food mixer in 1979.
In 1986, Kenwood launched its first ever microwave oven in the UK – the Quickmaid Supercook. This featured a twin fan convection system for faster, more even cooking. Numerous innovations followed over the next decades including autocook menus, flatbed solo models, combination ovens and the unique K Grill.
Kenwood was acquired by the Italian company DeLonghi in 2001. Under this ownership, Kenwood continues to launch new and improved products every year while retaining its core principles of quality and reliability combined with innovative technology.
